Mason Dixon Football League

Pre-season top 5.

1. Va Crusaders: Great organization. Will be in the mix.
2. Carolina Heat: Too talented to be placed any lower. I have a feeling they are more focused than ever.
3. Fredricksburg Falcons: Should make a run for the title. Only time will tell.
4. Gretna Storm: Could be higher. Won some huge games last season, but if they get caught up in last season they may face a similar result.
5. Va Ravens: Hal will have his troops ready.

Teams that may shake up the MDFL:

Wilmington Tigers: Very tough team
Carolina Rush(?): Combining talent is a good thing. Chemistry is even better.
DC Dragons: Too much structure to be a bad squad.

I already know I may get some flack for some of the picks. I really don't mind, though. It's all in the prognostication game. lol Stay tuned.

ok im still tryn to figure out y the ruff riders is not in the rankings that u listed can u tell me this please cuz u know we are one of the best teams in our leauge

You ask and I'll answer.
1. This is not a knock on the Ruffriders. They have the potential to run the table any given year. I just think the teams mentioned are better at this time of the year. It's only a pre-season poll (unofficial I might add).

2. From the meltdown you guys had last year, (stumbled into the playoffs, first round loss) we have to see how your pre-season fares. What did you gain? What did you LOSE?

3. Name one team in the top 5 that shouldn't be there.

In my honest opinion, I feel the Ruffriders will be in the top 5 by seasons end. Once again, not a knock on you guys. The MDFL will be more competitive now than it has been in years. A lot of good teams. (north and south)

PS...I Dont See How You Got THe Heat Above Us....No Disrespect To The
Heat But They Dropped The Ball Last YEar And Everybody Expects Them To Win The South Every Year...Everybody Predicted Us To Go 3-7 Last Year ..Not Only Did We Make The Playoffs Last Year We Won Our First Playoff Game By Beating The Ravens.Twice In One Season....The Heat Is Startin To Look Like The Buffalo Bills...When everybody Expects You To Win And You Lose..Its Worse Than When everybody Expects You To Lose And You Win...Thats An Accomplishment...Not A Dissappointment...I Aint Mad Tho...I Respect Opinions..

I agree. We had a great reg. season & lost 1st round. F'burg had a great reg. season & played for the North Conf. title, losing to the eventual champion.

We have a lot of proving to do.

Everyone in our camp is focused on improving our team. We were 9-2 overall and feel like it was the worst season in our 10 years.

NOT THAT IT REALLY MATTERS, BUT HOW IS THE STORM NOT @ THE #2 SPOT TO START OFF? ITS NOT LIKE THE RAVEN TEAM A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN THEY WON THE SHIP AND EVERYBODY LEFT. THE WHOLE TEAM IS STILL THERE FROM LAST YEAR WITH A FEW OLD PLAYERS THATS BACK OUT JUST FROM THEM MAKING IT TO THE BIG GAME LAST YEAR. TIME WILL TELL, WE AINT MAD AT YA :twisted:

No offense, but that comment justifies the ranking. This is an UNOFFICIAL pre-season poll. You can't get mad at opinion. I think Ward has the heart of a lion, but you guys can't be complacent off of last season's success. And you're right, time will tell.

Can't be too mad about where you have us. We had an awful preseason last year, so-so regular season but then got hot at the right time in the playoffs. We are out to show everyone that last year was not a fluke season. That's our motivation! And Mike I feel you on the Heat topic...they are approaching Yankee status (they are the safe bet to win the south every year, BUT something always happens)

I think the Heat is an easy pick every year. Expected? I know WE expect to represent the South every year, without overlooking ANY other team in the South.

What I always finding interesting is the process of building/rebuilding year after year. Semi-pro football is a unlike any other amatuer sport. I love it

C'mon, 2009 is the year that the league OVERLOOKS the HEAT. I wrote a post on our myspace/facebook pages something like this:

The Storm represented the South in the Championship game. The Storm are preparing to go back to the Championship game in 2009.

The Wilmington Tigers ended our season in 2008.

Fayetteville Ruff Riders are looking to rebound from 2008.

The Jacksonville Raiders are buzzing over their change to the Carolina Rush.

The New Bern Grizzlies are excited about their change to the Carolina Warriors.

And look....way over there in the corner, tucked away in the shadows. The forgotten team. Are they still in the MDFL? Where have they been? They lost their best player to injury. Other teams in the area took all their talent. I heard they folded due to the economy. I heard they joined some other league in North Carolina. They can't be any good in 2009...right?

Hard work, dedication to excellence and added motivation...2 more months...2 more months.

So Everybody just focus on the STORM, the South Conf. Champions. Focus on the Tigers who ended the HEAT season in 2008. Focus on the changes w/ the Crush & Warriors. Focus on the mighty Purples. Those HEAT aren't even worth preparing for
